Volunteer: Everett Community Food Bank- Help provide food to local families in need

If this is your first-time volunteering, before you volunteer, please attend orientation at the Everett Food bank on Tuesday's or Friday's at 11:30am. You do not need to sign up for orientation.

This volunteer opportunity consists of sorting, stocking food, portioning bulk food, and helping distribute food to clients.

Food Bank Shifts:

Trip Assistant volunteers agree to assist the Trip Leader and commit to assisting 2 or more trips, on average, each month. In exchange, Trip Assistant's attraction fees and lunch (if applicable; depending on individual trip) will be paid by VOA.

1. Assist in leading a variety of trips for seniors (50+), building relationships and creating welcoming, warm environment.

2.  Ensuring the safety and quality of experience of guests.

3.  Build positive relationships in one-on-one and via small groups to facilitate connection and belonging.

4. Make decisions utilizing good judgment and solution focus as needed in unexpected circumstances. 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work on one’s feet for multiple hours each shift.Ability to hike over uneven terrain and inclines/declines for up to five miles. Ability to carry backpack with first aid kit and supplies for extended periods. Ability to assist seniors in wheelchairs, walkers, etc. May include: standing, bending, lifting, setting-up and taking-down tables and chairs, taking out garbage and recycling, or conducting other physical tasks. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Volunteer: VOA Pickleball Ambassador in Sultan

VOA’s volunteer Pickleball Ambassadors oversee daily pickleball operations, ensuring a positive experience for all players. In exchange for their ongoing service, Pickleball Ambassadors can enjoy free pickleball play during open sessions at the Sky Valley Center.


Pickleball Ambassador Responsibilities:

o   Ensure a positive environment for all players: welcome new players; orient new players to rules and etiquette; enforce VOA’s Code of Conduct and pickleball rules.

o   Set-up pickleball courts at beginning of session, take down at end of session, and ensure gym is clean and free of debris at end of session.

o   Communicate as soon as possible with Center Manager in event of absence due to illness or unforeseen event; participant violation of Code of Conduct; equipment issues; or facility concerns.

o   Agree to oversee one full pickleball session each week, and communicate with at least two weeks’ notice in event of upcoming absence.

o   Ensure that all players who participate have completed a VOA registration or membership form, have checked in at the Sky Valley Center, and have: 1) paid a daily rate or punch card; 2) receive financial assistance to play; 3) are playing w/ a promotion (ex: free pass, one week free); or are a VOA-approved Ambassador, staff or partner.

Thursday's: Any hours between 10am-4pm

Responsibilities:

Assist with planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting fruits and vegetables. Help maintain the garden by mulching, composting, and general upkeep. Work with food bank staff to ensure harvested produce is properly stored and distributed. Support sustainability efforts, such as composting and organic gardening practices. Engage with other volunteers and community members to create a welcoming and productive space.

Requirements:

No prior gardening experience necessary—just a willingness to learn! Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Comfortable with light physical labor, including bending, lifting, and carrying. Passion for community service and food security.
