Trip Assistant volunteers agree to assist the Trip Leader and commit to assisting 2 or more trips, on average, each month. In exchange, Trip Assistant's attraction fees and lunch (if applicable; depending on individual trip) will be paid by VOA.
1. Assist in leading a variety of trips for seniors (50+), building relationships and creating welcoming, warm environment.
2. Ensuring the safety and quality of experience of guests.
3. Build positive relationships in one-on-one and via small groups to facilitate connection and belonging.
4. Make
decisions utilizing good judgment and solution focus as needed in
unexpected circumstances.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on one’s feet for multiple hours each shift.
- Ability to hike over uneven terrain and inclines/declines for up to five miles.
- Ability to carry backpack with first aid kit and supplies for extended periods.
- Ability to assist seniors in wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
- May include: standing, bending, lifting, setting-up and taking-down tables and chairs, taking out garbage and recycling, or conducting other physical tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
